J.J. Kelly, Former Ottumwan, Is Dead
John J. Kelly, 55, for many years an employee of the old Sargent drugstore, died Sunday at 6 a.m. in St. Anthony’s hospital, Rock Island, Illinois. He was an employee of the Rock Island arsenal. Kelly was the son of John and Bridget Kelly and was born in Ottumwa June 24, 1888. He was unmarried. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors are two cousins, James J. McMonigle, Ottumwa, and Miss Margaret Kelleher, Chicago. Kelly attended the schools of Ottumwa and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from Johnson’s chapel to St. Mary’s, where at 9:30 a.m. Msgr. J.M. Walsh, V.F. will conduct the service. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
