Mrs. Harvey Prosser of Ottumwa route 6 has received word of the sudden death of her father, Thomas M. Watts, 88, Thursday evening at the home of his son. Thomas J. Watts in Los Angeles. He had lived in and around Ottumwa most of his life until going to California several years ago. He was well known as a farmer in the Wapello county community. Thomas Murry Watts, 87, former Ottumwa who has lived in Los Angeles for the past 19 years, died there May 4, at the home of his son Thomas J. Watts. He was born January 21, 1857, at Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of John P. and Catherine Watts, Survivors are three sons, Thomas J. and Charles E. Watts, Los Angeles, John W. Watts, Oakland, California, two daughters, Mrs. Clara Heaberline, Long Beach, and Mrs. Catherine Prosser, Ottumwa route 6, 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane, May 6, 1905 and by seven children. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Johnson’s funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. C.R. Reed of Willard Street Methodist church. Burial will be in Fiedler cemetery near Floris. Pallbearers will be Will Druet, Charles Galey, Harold Davis, Max Davis, Francis Watts and LaMont Garrett.
