Mrs. Ida Shields, 62, of 1120 East Mary street, died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday in Ottumwa hospital. She was the daughter of John and Anna Rogers and was born in Davis County December 22, 1881. She had been a resident of Ottumwa 20 years. Mrs. Shields was a member of Enterprise Rebekah lodge 132 and was a past noble grand of the organization, a member of the F.O.E. auxiliary and of W.R.C. 132. During 1943 she was president of the Parent Teacher unit of the Agassiz school. She was also a member of the Presbyterian church. She was married to Claude C. Shields December 17, 1899, and he died April 28, 1933. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Reva Bailey, Ottumwa, a son, Harold Shields, Davenport, here mother, Mrs. Anna Rogers of Pulaski, two sisters, Mrs. William Berkley, Bloomfield, and Mrs. William Nora Birchmier of Pulaski, and a brother, Ovie Rogers, Pulaski. She was preceded in death by her only grandson, Jerry Bailey, May 21, 1943, also by a sister, Effie and by her father, in 1905. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Johnson’s funeral chapel, the Rev. E.L. Frost of the Davis Street Christian church in charge. Burial in Memorial Lawn. The Rebekah’s will have services at the grave.
