Mrs. Mary Ellen Lane, 38, who resided at 165 South Elm street, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday at the Ottumwa hospital. She was born May 26, 1905 and had made her home in Ottumwa since 1934. Mrs. Lane was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Red Cross nurses aid. She was also a member of the First Baptist church. She is survived by her husband, Earl, two stepsons, Earl Lane Jr. of the Navy and Robert Gene Lane of Ottumwa, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ruth Longo of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Betty Yoder of Ottumwa. The body was removed to the Carroll Reece funeral home to await completion of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Lane, who died Sunday, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist church, the Rev. John R. Estes, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will have charge of the services at the grave. Pallbearers will be John Lord, William Madigan, Max Oakes, Fred Anderson, Roy Kelly and George Courtney.
