Wayne C. Counterman, 41, service foreman at the Vaughan Chevrolet Co. died at 7 p.m. Thursday at the University hospital in Iowa City. His home is at 328 ½ East Main street. The son of Abe and Essie Drenner Counterman, he was born in Ottumwa December 29, 1902, and lived here his entire life. He had worked for the Vaughan firm of a number of years. Survivors include a son, Gerald, Ottumwa; his parents, who live in Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Effie E. Thompson, and Mrs. Genevieve E. Eckert, both of Ottumwa, a brother, William D. Counterman, Cedar Rapids; his grandmother, Mrs. Hannah E. Counterman, Pekin, Illinois, a nephew, Richard L. Richardson, Limby, and two nieces Margaret and Virginia Counterman, both of Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the Eagles lodge No. 114, Ottumwa. The body is to be removed to the Johnson funeral chapel pending arrangements. Funeral services for Wayne C. Counterman, services foreman at the Vaughn Chevrolet who died Thursday evening at the University hospital in Iowa City, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Harold Roberts will be in charge and burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. Eagles lodge, No. 114 of which he was a member will have charge of the services at the grave. The pallbearers will be Milton Russell, William Curtis, Ernest Anderson, Floyd Proctor, Frank Bennett and Estel Sisco.
