Orval E. Collett, 40, died suddenly at 8:45 a.m. today at his home, 143 North Monroe street. The son of John and Rose Collett, he was born in Ottumwa. February 28, 1904, and had spent his life here. He had been an employee of John Morrell & Co. for 18 years. He was a member of F.O. E. 114. Survivors are his wife, Pansy; two sons Lloyd and Bert, at home; a brother, Clarence, of Ottumwa; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. John Collett, Ottumwa; half-brothers, Floyd Collett of Libertyville and Ralph Collett of Packwood; half-sister, Mrs. Eugene Jackson of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his mother, stepmother, Elisabeth, and a sister and two half-sisters. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel.
Funeral services for Orval E. Collett, who died Saturday morning at his home, 143 North Moore street will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson’s chapel. Mrs. M.R. Davis reader for the First Church of Christ, Scientist will be in charge. Pallbearers will be Zion Piper, Nolan McCune, Charles Hanna, George Hein, forest Wolf and George Rumph. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
