Native Of County Dies At Age Of 85
Mrs. Carrie Henrietta Tullis, 85, a native of Wapello county, died Monday at 4:30 p.m. at her home, 1044 West Third street. She was born north of Ottumwa on September 18, 1858, the daughter of Henry L. and Caroline Crandall De Vol. She was married to Freeman Ford Tullis in Ottumwa in 1877. To them were born four children. Michael Kyle, Irvin D., Wesley Laurence and Edith Caroline all of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by one son, Laurence and her husband who died September 20, 1934. In addition to the two sons and one daughter, she is survived by five grandsons and two great grandchildren.; and by one half-brother, J. Frank Kerfoot of San Diego, California, formerly of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Charles R. Lawrence, pastor of the Benton Street Presbyterian church. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
