Former Officer Killed By Train
Surviving Mac Pharriss, 34, whose funeral was held Friday at the Lester Jay funeral home here, are his wife, the former Miss Lucille Ragen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Ragen of Agency, and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pharriss of Aurora, Missouri. Mrs. Pharriss returned here with the body Thursday and is residing at the home of her parents in Agency. Mr. Pharriss had served in the Army from October 1942, to January 1944, as a lieutenant in the engineers, when he was given an honorable discharge to serve in the railway industry. He was killed February 13 when he fell between two cars while switching a train in the Great Northern railroad yards at Hillyard, Washington. The Pharrisses had been residing in Spokane, Washington since his discharge and employment there. Pallbearers were from the Ottumwa and Hedrick Legion posts. Burial was at Memorial Lawn cemetery.
Son-In -Law Killed In The West
Mr. and Mrs. William Ragen of near Bladensburg received word that their son-in-law Mac Pharriss about 30, was killed in an accident Sunday, morning at Spokane, Washington, his home. H is survived by his wife, Lucille and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pharriss of Lawrence, Kansas. The boy will arrive in Ottumwa sometime Thursday, but no funeral arrangements have been made. Funeral services for Mac Pharriss who was killed n the railroad yards at Spokane, Washington, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. F.E. Pietz. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery.
