Joe R. Crockett, 69, of Bloomfield, died at 11 a.m. Friday at the University hospital in Iowa City. He was born March 4, 1874 at Watson, Missouri, the son of James G. and Margaret Ruth Crockett. He moved to Bloomfield 13 years ago after spending practically all the rest of his life in Ottumwa. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carl J. Bartlett of Ottumwa; one sister, Mrs. Grace Lewis of Des Moines, and a grandson Sergeant Carl L. Bartlett with the Army aviation engineers in England. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on January 12, 1931, his mother, March 4, 1907. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. R.C. Keagy. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
