Mrs. Mayme Vaughan,74, wife of the late Thomas Vaughan, died suddenly this morning at 7 o’clock at the home of her niece, Miss Marjorie Holley, 802 North Jefferson street, where she had made her home for four years. Mrs. Vaughan was born in Prairie City October 18, 1869.
She is survived by four stepchildren John and Reginald of Ottumwa, Mrs. Myles E. Standish of Ventura, California, and Mack Vaughan of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie McMillian of San Antonia, Texas, and Mrs. Lawrence Stevens of Ottumwa, and one brother, Thomas Sheehy of Rockford, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 at the Holley home and at 9 o’clock at the Sacred Heart Catholic church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. J.H. Courtney. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery. Members of the Altar and Rosary society will meet Friday evening at 8 o’clock at the Holley home to recite the rosary. The body will be removed from the Vaughan funeral chapel Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
