Mrs. Horan, Wife Of Supervisor Dies
Mrs. Hannah Catherine Horan, 71, wife of Charles Horan who is a member of the Wapello county board of supervisors, died at 9:05 p.m. Friday at the St. Joseph hospital. Mrs. Horan was born February 23, 1873, in Ottumwa and had lived her entire life in this county, the family home being eight miles south of Ottumwa. She was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Rater Dawson, and was married on April 15, 1896, to Charles Horan. She is survived by her husband and the following children; Mrs. John Foxx, Mrs. Donald Riley, Mrs. Willard Wallace and Mrs. Leslie Theisinger, all of Ottumwa; Charles Horan, Washington D.C. and Phillip Horan of Floris route 2. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, a brother, John Dawson of Ottumwa and a sister, Mrs. M.J. O’Brien of Omaha. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary and by a brother William. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 8:30 from the Vaughan funeral home and at 9 o’clock from St. Patrick’s Catholic church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. T.C. Donohoe. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Members of St. Patrick’s parish will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Vaughan chapel to recite the rosary.
