Fred W. Dimmitt, 61, a civilian engineer at the Ottumwa Naval Air station, died at 4:40 a.m. today at the St. Joseph hospital. His home was at 332 North Marion street. He was a native of Indiana and was born May 9, 1882. He came to Ottumwa a year ago. Mr. Dimmitt was a member of the Masonic order at Provo, Utah and of the Shrine at Bunker Hill, Indiana. His wife, Helen survives, the body is at the Lester Jay funeral home.
Funeral services for Fred W. Dimmitt, civilian engineer at the Ottumwa Naval Air station, will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lester Jay funeral home, with the Rev. R.C. Keagy of Wesley Methodist church in charge. Burial will be in Leavenworth, Kansas. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Dimmitt is survived by his mother, Mrs. Charles F. Dimmitt of Indianapolis; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Barron, Bunker Hill, Indiana, Mrs. Elizabeth Fox, St. Louis; Miss Martha Jane Dimmitt, Los Angeles, Robert V. Dimmitt, Long Beach, California. Also, two sisters, Mrs. James S, Marlow, Indianapolis, and Mrs. A.B. Bailey, Logansport, Indiana, and a brother, Charles V. Dimmitt, Kokomo, Indiana.
