Ralph James Stucker, 48, died at 11:00 a.m. Sunday in the St. Joseph hospital. His home was on Ottumwa route 5. The son of Edward and Laura Stucker, he was born in Des Moines county, March 9, 1895. He was a Veteran of World war I. Inducted November 19, 1917, at Jamestown, North Dakota, Stucker was a private in Company M, 326th infantry B.C.C. He participated in engagements overseas in the Toul sector; on the Lorrain front, and in the Argonne forest. He served overseas from April 27, 1918, to January 3, 1919 and was discharged at Camp Dodge, February 3 of that year. He was a member of the American Legion post at Jamestown and of the Congregational church. Survivors are his father, Edward Stucker, two brothers, Ross and Cecil Stucker, and a sister, Mrs. Burton Miller, all of route 5. His mother died in July 1938. Funeral services will be held from the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Pleasant grove, Des Moines country, Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. G.F. Meador. Burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery. The body will remain at Johnson’s chapel until 9 a.m. Tuesday.
