Ernest L. Smith, 62, who lived on Ottumwa route 6, died at the Ottumwa hospital at 7:30 a.m. today. The son of William and Mary Jane Smith, he was born in Ottumwa February 17, 1881, and had lived in this community throughout his life. Surviving are his wife, Grace, and three sons, Merritt, Howard and Arthur Smith, all of Ottumwa. Five grandsons, and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Sutton, Floris route 2, also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, who died in infancy. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery
