Mrs. Matilda Christy, 77, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harold Nelson, on Ottumwa route, 5. Born in Savanna, Missouri, August 25, 1866, she had lived in the Ottumwa community for over 30 years. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Alice Randall, Mrs. Ellen Snoddy, Mrs. Mollie Randall, Mrs. Mary Stainer, and Mrs. Delpha Nelson, all of Ottumwa and Mrs. Dorothy Garrett, Moline, Illinois, and one son, George Christy, Floris. Thirty-one grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband 16 years ago, as well as by six children. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in the Eldon cemetery.
