Please Note: On the master list of Memorial Lawn’s burials, the interment dates for Charles and his wife Mildred are reversed. Charles died July 17, 1965, and Mildred died August 25, 1960.

Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Monday, July 19, 1965, Page 9:

Charles Langford, 82, of 314 Elmdale died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital following an illness of several weeks. He had been an employe of John Deere Ottumwa Works from 1916 until his retirement in 1952.

He was the son of Andrew and Laura Langford and was born in Wapello County June 28, 1883. He had lived in Ottumwa most of his life.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Byrum of Seattle, Wash., and one nephew, Jack Bradley of Lincoln, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Fay, Aug. 25, 1960 and by one son in infancy.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in charge of the Rev. A.D. Steffenson of the First Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
