Long-Time Local Residents Are Dead
Mrs. Ina May Cameron, 82, of 331 Burrhus street, died at the Ottumwa hospital Sunday at 9 a.m. she was the daughter of Luther M. and Margaret Carpenter and was born on the old Carpenter homestead, present site of the municipal golf course, on May 1, 1861. There she lived almost her entire life. She was married in that home in 1888 to Robert T. Cameron who preceded her in death 22 years ago. Mrs. Cameron is survived by one sister, Mrs. Eva Bailey of Ottumwa, a sister in law Mrs. W.A. Carpenter of Ottumwa; and two nephews, Russell Coombs and Harold Gatlin, both of Ottumwan. She was a member of the Willard Street Methodist church and of the J.M. Tuttle post No. 327 W.R.C. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel conducted by the Rev. C.R. Reed of the Willard street church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
