Miss Sarah Pope Merrill, 52, died at 10 a.m. Sunday at her home 401 North Green street, following a brief illness. She was born July 9, 1891, in Ottumwa and was the daughter of Herman W. Merrill and Emily T. Merrill, who preceded her in death. A sister, Caraphelia, also preceded her in death. Mr. Merrill prominent in Ottumwa business circles, died in 1936.The mother died several years earlier. Surviving is a cousin Charles Greenleaf Merrill of Ottumwa. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday. The family requests no flowers.
