Gran Myers, Veteran Repair Shop Operator, Succumbs Saturday
Grant Myers, 79, a resident of Ottumwa for more than 50 years a well-known repair shop operator here died at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ottumwa hospital. He had been the victim of two recent accidents, in both of which he had been seriously injured. The latter of these two accidents was on October 14, when he was struck by a bicycle. His ankle was fractured in this mishap and he had been a patient in Ottumwa hospital since that time. He was born July 17, 1864, at Indianola, and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Murphy, and a granddaughter, Linda Ada Murphy of Ottumwa. He is also survived by a brother in Orange Park, Florida, and was preceded in death by his wife and by one son Ralph Myers. He was a member of the First Congregation church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Lester Jay funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Edward Day, pastor of the First Congregational church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
