James J. Arihood, 54, who had lived at 415 Mer Rouge avenue, died at the veterans’ hospital in Des Moines at 10:15 p.m. Friday. He had been a patient at the hospital for the last five weeks. He was the son of Thomas J. Arihood and Catherine Arihood and was born in Louisa county, Iowa December 16, 1889. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 13 years A veteran of World War I, he entered the service February 23, 1918, at Wapello Iowa. After serving overseas for 22 months and 14 days he was discharged January 14, 1919 at Camp Dodge. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; one sister, Mrs. Callie Hahn of Muscatine, an aunt and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in charge of the Rev. L.E. Welshons, pastor of the First Church of the Open Bible. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.
