Death Comes To Mrs. C.F. Carlson
Mrs. Grace R. Carlson, 44, wife of Charles P. Carlson, died at Ottumwa hospital at 11 p.m. Friday following a short illness. The family home was at 725 North Ash street. Mrs. Carlson was the daughter of Floyd and Nellie Orr and was born in Ottumwa March 15, 1899. She had been a resident here most of her life. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal church and the auxiliary of the American Legion. In 1917 she was married to Clifford Kauffman, who died in 1931. She and Mr. Carlson were married August 6, 1936. He survives as does a son, Robert A. Kauffman, Ottumwa. Other survivors are here parents, a sister, Mrs. Louise Harris, Vincennes, Indiana, and two brothers, LaMont Orr of Ottumwa and Sergeant Harold C. Orr of Camp Dodge. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity church, the Rev. Louis H. Matheus in charge. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will be at Johnson’s funeral chapel until 11 a.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to the church and will be closed at the beginning of the service.
