Veteran Hardware Co. Employee Dies
Earl E. Mielkey, 48, employee of the Fabritz Hardware Co. here for the past 22 years died at 3:50 a.m. today at his home, 1805 West Main street, after and extended illness. He was the son of John and Sedasta Mielkey and was born May 29, 1897 at Bradford, Illinois. He had lived in Ottumwa 30 years and was member of the Eagles lodge. Survivors include his wife, Vera; two sons, Cecil Mielkey, in the Army and John Mielkey at home; a granddaughter, Vickie Lee Mielkey; his parent of Ottumwa, a sister Mrs. A.H. Wilson, Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence. The body was removed to the Johnson funeral chapel pending arrangements.
Funeral services of Earl E. Mielkey, employee of the Fabritz Hardware Co. here for the past 22 years died last Tuesday at his home 1805 West Main street, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. L.W. Welshons of the First Church of the Open Bible. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will be taken to the Mielkey residency Saturday and returned to the chapel at 11 a.m. Sunday. Pallbearers will be Martin O’Hara, Frank Pedrick, Dave Thorne, William Elsensohn, Gerald Howard and Alvin Schmidt.
