Mrs. Ida Alice Black Tinder, 76, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Charles L. Holland of 108 North Moore street. She was born September 6, 1867, in Vermillion county, Illinois, the daughter of Louis Franklin and Frances Ann Black. She was married on February 3, 1867 to Reuben Thomas Tinder who preceded her in death on October 22, 1943. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Holland and a son James Franklin Tinder of Waterloo, and the following grandchildren; Charles R. Holland with the Army stationed in Chicago, Richard Thomas Holland, Ottumwa ; Mrs. Dora Mae Hartman, Peoria, Illinois, Albert Tinder, Iowa City, and Martha Jane Tinder, Chariton. She is also survived by a great grandchild, Albert Richard Tinder and by two sisters, Mrs. Belle Woods of Long Pine, Nebraska and Mrs. Mollie Phippa of Osceola. Mr. and Mrs. Tinder moved to Ottumwa in 1932 to make their home with their daughter. Mrs. Tinder was a member of the Davis Street Christian church where she was a member of the King’s Guard Bible class. She also had retained membership in the Chariton Rebekah lodge for many years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Johnson funeral chapel and burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery. The Rev. E.L. Frost and the Rev. A. D. McClure will be in charge of the services. The casket will be taken to the residence today and will be returned to the chapel at noon Friday.
