Rock Island Man Dies In Hotel Room
Local police identified today a man who died Monday night at Milner hotel as Fred Stanley Brier, about 58 of Rock Island, Illinois. The man died a short time after Patrolman Adrian Bard went to his room in response to a report that other guests heard moans coming from the room. An official report stated that the man registered at the hotel last Sunday under the name of George Mason of Eddyville. However, a selective service registration card and other papers found among his belonging indicated his name was Brier. Authorities in Rock Island said the name and description fitted a man who disappeared from a state hospital at East Moline, Illinois, several months ago. They said he was being treated as a drug addict. The body is at the Traul funeral chapel but will be sent to Rock Island tonight. Brier’s mother lives near the Tri-Cities.
