Harry Allcott Dies After Long Illness
Harry J. Allcott, 58, of 1115 Hammond avenue, life-long resident of Wapello county died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday at the University hospital in Iowa City following an illness. He was born September 21, 1885, the son of Henry C. and Elnora Allcott pioneer residents of this county. He married Nellie L. McCune, April 17, 1912 who survives him. Also surviving are a brother; M.H. Allcott, Ottumwa; a sister Mrs. J.A. Kennedy, Ottumwa route 6 and two nieces, Mrs. Jessie Stephenson and Mrs. Mary L. Stephenson, both of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel conducted by the Rev. Paul Graebel, D.D. pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. Pallbearers will be Verlin Francis, Frank Buchanan, Irvin Swinney, Harold Howarth, Lew Stevens and Ben F. Thompson.
