Henneman Gas Utility Head Dies

Richard Frederick Henneman, 40, Ottumwa district manager and director of the Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co. died suddenly at 2 p.m. Tuesday following a heart attack which occurred while he was visiting the company’s service where he designed and supervised a considerable expansion of local gas service, building many miles of new lines. Mr. Henneman had also taken a prominent place in the civic life of Ottumwa. He was the director of the Chamber of Commerce and served on many important civic committees. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Rotary club and the Elks lodge. Mrs. Henneman was born May 13, 1897, in Hagen Germany, the son of Richard Frederick and Wilhelmenie Henneman and came to this country as a child with his family. The family first settled in Florida, but soon after moved to Davenport, where they remained. He was married in 1920 to Miss Helen Mohl in Rock Island. Mrs. Henneman and their four children survive. The children are Miss Shirley Henneman and Richard Henneman, students at Iowa State college; Joyce Ann Henneman and John Henneman, both at home. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters; Mrs. Freda Milnes, Chicago; Mrs. Mayme Corwin and Frederick Henneman, both of Davenport. His father died on June 14 of this year in Davenport. The casket will be returned from the Johnson funeral chapel to the Henneman residence at 406 East Maple avenue at 5 o’clock this afternoon. Friends may call there this evening, and the body will be taken to Rock Island Thursday afternoon where funeral services and burial will be Friday afternoon.
