Second Man In Navy Air Crash Dies
Robert C. Carson, 19, aviation machinist mate third class who was injured in an airplane crash near Oskaloosa last Thursday died at the hospital at the U.S. Naval Air station here at 3:20 p.m. Saturday. Carson had suffered serious burns about the head and chest in the accident which also took the life of Ensign Robert L. Holsington of Enid, Oklahoma. With Carson at the time of his death was a sister, Mrs. Harry Lewis of Logansport, Indiana where Carson had lived before enlisting in the Navy. His father Frederick Carson also survives. Carson reported here July 31 from Great Lakes, Illinois. He joined the Navy last November 16. A Naval escort was to accompany the body to Logansport.
