Committal services for John W. Gray, father of Mrs. H.S. Merrick, formerly of Ottumwa, who died May 19 in the Washington D.C. home of Mr. and Mrs. Merrick will be held Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the Merrick family plot at Ottumwa cemetery. The Rev. George Crosby of Plymouth congregational church will officiate. Mrs. Gray, who was born in New York on July 3 , 1849 was a resident of Bloomington, Illinois for many years. He had made his home with his daughter since the death of Mrs. Gray, July 29, 1937. The body is being accompanied here by Mr. and Mrs. Merrick who are arriving late this afternoon. It will be at the Jay funeral home until for the services at the grave. Miss Lavina Merrick will join her parents late tonight from Kansas City at Hotel Ottumwa.
