Ottumwan Dies Week After Wife
Frank Fogelsong, 231 East Mclean street, whose wife, Ida, died July 12, died suddenly at 4 a.m. today at home of his daughter, Mrs. William Counterman, in Cedar Rapids. He was 79 years old, having been born August 4, 1863, in Keokuk county, the son of John and Cynthia Fogelsong. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for 60 years, 57 of which he was an employee of the Ottumwa Iron Works. He was a member of the local union of the United Steel Workers. He and Mrs. Foglesong, the former Miss Ida M. Saugel, were married May 1, 1889. Survivors are his children, Mrs. Maurine Wright and Harold E. Fogelsong, both of Ottumwa; Mrs. Bessie M. Counterman of Cedar Rapids, and Louis Foglesong of San Francisco. Also, six grandchildren and one great grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Sylvia Simmons of Rock Rapids. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Frank O’Neil Foglesong and Paul Foglesong, and by two brothers and a sister. The body is being brought to Ottumwa to the Johnson funeral chapel. Arrangements for services have not been completed.
Funeral services for Frank Foglesong, 231 East McLean street, who died Tuesday in Cedar Rapids, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday from the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Harold Roberts will have charge of the services and burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The pallbearers will be the following fellow employees at the Ottumwa Iron Works; Charles Harl, Floyd Reed, Timothy Smith, Albert Hartley, Thomas Binks and Ludwig Anderson.
