Mrs. Ida Foglesong Dies At Age of 75

Mrs. Ida M. Foglesong of 231 East McLean street and a resident of Ottumwa for the past 56 years, died at 3:45 p.m. Monday at the St. Joseph hospital. She was born March 4, 1869, in Farmington, Saint Francis county, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Mary Saugel. On May 1, 1889, she was married to Frank Foglesong, who survives her as do four of their six children; Mrs. Maurine Wright and Harold M. Fogelsong, both of Ottumwa; Mrs. Bessie M. Counterman, Cedar Rapids, and Louis Foglesong of San Francisco. Two sons, Frank O’Neil and Paul Foglesong preceded her in death. She is also survived by six grandchildren and by one great grandchild. Mrs. Foglesong was a member of the First Christian church and a past president of the American Legion auxiliary and of the Tent No. 4, Daughters of Union Veterans. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Harold Roberts, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The pallbearers will be past commanders of the local American Legion post.
*Mrs. Foglesong’s husband died two days later and her husbands name is spelled Fogelsong.
