Mrs. Lillie Snelling, wife of George Snelling and formerly of Ottumwa, died at 7:45 a.m. today at the Burlington hospital at Burlington, where the family moved a year ago. She was the daughter of Jettle and Elizabeth Carter and was born near Eldon February 23, 1885. She had been a resident of the Wapello county for nearly her entire life. Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. George F. Davis of Ottumwa; two sons, Harold Snelling of Ottumwa and Private Stanley Snelling, who is serving with the Army overseas, and four grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Guy Carter, Milan, Illinois; Emery Carter, who lives in Arkansas, and Pearl Carter of Weever. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Snelling, wife of George Snelling formerly of Ottumwa, who died in Burlington, Tuesday morning, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson’s funeral chapel. The Rev. E. L. Simbro will be in charge and burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery. Pallbearers will be C.A. Elliott, Andrew Doggett, Wesley Tanner, William Allbright Sr. and Daniel Rowmines.
