Mrs. Gertrude B. Bierce, 63, a resident of Ottumwa for many years died at 6:30 a.m. today at the Eakins nursing home, 313 Appanoose street. Survivors include two sons, Charles M. Bierce in the Navy at Norman, Oklahoma and James Bierce, Greenbelt, N.J. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Bierce, in 1934 and by a daughter, Celeste, on July 18, 1939. The body was removed to the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of arrangements.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude B. Bierce, who died Friday at the Eakins nursing home at 333 Appanoose street, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Harold Roberts will be in charge and burial will be in the Eldon cemetery. Mrs. Bierce was born October 8, 1881, at Delta, the daughter of James and Florence Burgess. She is survived by two sons, Charles M. Bierce, in the Navy at Norman, Oklahoma and James Bierce of Greenbelt, Maryland.
