Mrs. B.W. Vanderveer, 86, a former Ottumwan, died Monday afternoon in Los Angeles. Mrs. Vanderveer had lived in Ottumwa for many years while her husband was in the grocery business. He also served as chief of police here for eight years, but the family moved to California 20 years ago. She was born March 21, 1857, in Ohio, the daughter of J.H. and Mary Wilson. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Miller of Los Angeles, two sisters and one brother, C.W. Wilson of Bellingham, Washington. Mrs. S.W. Johnston of Alta and Mrs. J.D. Callaway of Amarillo, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband and by one daughter, Helen. Mrs. Vanderveer was a member of the First Presbyterian church, and the body is being brought to Ottumwa and will be at the Lester Jay funeral home until burial arrangements are completed.
