George W. Harden, 74, died at 6:20 a.m. today at the Rest Haven nursing home 820 West Pershing avenue. He was born January 10, 1869 at Batavia, the son of Isaac and Mary Harden, but had lived in Ottumwa for the last 25 years. He is survived by the following four children; Mrs. Ethel Terrence, Ottumwa, Mrs. Nellie Tygret, Hephzibah, Georgia; John Harden, Elmer, Missouri, and Private First-Class George Harden in the Army at New York. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren; one sister. Mrs. Sue Sutton of Pueblo, Colorado, and a half-sister, Mrs. Sade Scholer of Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by two brothers, two daughters and one son. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel pending the completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for George W. Harden, who died Thursday morning at the Rest Haven home, will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. A.D. McClure will be in charge of the services and burial will be in the Dunkard cemetery near Batavia. The pallbearers will be Ralph Forman, Earl Forman, V.C. Smith, Ross Beeler, J.S. Pottorf and Bud Finney.
