Death Comes To Mrs. Arthur Galey
Mrs. Lucy Baker Galey, wife of Arthur Galey, of South Madison avenue (route 5), died at the Ottumwa hospital Sunday at 3 a.m. after a lingering illness. The daughter of James R. and Mary L. Baker, she was born in Ottumwa and lived here all her life. She was 50 years old. Mrs. Galey attended Ottumwa high school and the Ottumwa Business college. She was an active worker in the Parent Teacher movement, having served as president of the Agassiz school unit and as a member of the P.T.A. council. She also was a member of the Plymouth Congregational church. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; five sons, Richard of Ottumwa, Sergeant James Galey of the Army Air Corps, Tucson, Arizona Don, Paul and Teddy at home; two daughters Louise and Elizabeth at home; one grandson, John Newman Galey, of Ottumwa; her parents Mr. and Mrs. James R. Baker of Ottumwa; one sister, Mrs. Marie Skinner of Tulsa, Oklahoma and one brother, Myron Baker of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by a son, John Robert, in 1939.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational church conducted, by the Rev. George W. Crosby. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until Tuesday noon when it will be taken to the church and will be closed at the beginning of the service. Pallbearers will be Fletcher Copes, Dana Shepherd, DeMonte Baker, Charles H., Baker, William Cudworth and Earl Harrington.
