C.A. Burnstedt, 60, Dairy Farmer, Dies
Charles A. Burnstedt, 60, of near Chillicothe, a dairy farmer, died at 11:55 a.m. today at Ottumwa hospital after a brief illness. Although he operated a dairy in Des Moines for several years, he spent most of his life in the Chillicothe and Munterville area. He had been active in Farm bureau work and once was a candidate for county supervisor. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Lockridge, Freeport, Illinois and Marie Burnstedt, at home; two sons; George, Chillicothe and Oliver, Ottumwa; three brothers, John Burnstedt, Webster City, Albert Burnstedt, Des Moines and Henry Burnstedt, Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Dann, Woodward, and Mrs. Ida Johnson, Munterville and by four grandchildren. The body was removed to the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for Charles Anton Burnstedt, Chillicothe farmer who died Thursday, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Munterville Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. J.G. Swedberg. Burial will be in Munterville cemetery. The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until 10 a.m. Saturday when it will be removed to the residence near Chillicothe. It will be taken to the church at noon Sunday. Burnstedt was the son of John and Elna Burnstedt and was born at Petersburg, Illinois, July 22, 1882. He came to Iowa when seven years old and spent most of his life in the vicinities of Munterville and Chillicothe. He had been a member of the Munterville Lutheran church since his confirmation in 1890. He was married to Gertrude Johnson March 31. 1907.
