Mrs. Sarah J. Carlson, 71, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday at her home on route 2. She was the daughter of Samuel A. and Marie Anderson and was born January 15, 1871, in Jefferson county. She came to Ottumwa when she was 16 years old and had lived here the past 55 years. She was a member of the Willard Street Methodist church. She was married December 2, 1891, to Charles A. Carlson who preceded her in death. She is survived by the following brothers and sisters; Willard E. Carlson and Amel A. Carlson, both of route 2; Paul D. Carlson, of Great Lakes Naval station; Mrs. Florence Culpepper, Suffolk, Virginia and Mrs. Alice Murray, Keokuk. She is also survived by four grandchildren, one brother and three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Chandler of Seattle, Mrs. Wilhelmina McKay and Arthur Anderson all of Ottumwa.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah J. Carlson, who died early Sunday at her home on route 2, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Willard Street Methodist church. The services will be conducted by the Rev. C.R. Reed and burial will be made in Shaul cemetery. Mrs. Carlson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Florence Culpepper, of Suffolk, Virginia and Mrs. Alice Murray of Keokuk, three sons, Willard S. Carlson and Amel A. Carlson, both of route 2 and Paul D. Carlson at the Great Lakes Naval station. She is also survived by four grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Pallbearers will be W.E. Thompson, S.B. Burggraff, George Hartsuck, Dave Heber, obit unreadable beyond this point.
