Arthur E. Funk, 48, died at 4:30 a.m. today at his home, 320 South Ash street. He was born April 6, 1894, at Lovilia, the son of Henry Clayton and Mary Ellen Funk. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 19 years and was an employee of John Morrell & Co. He was a veteran of the first World War and enlisted June 3, 1917 at Ottumwa and was discharged May 14, 1919 at Camp dodge. He was a member of post No. 775 V.F.W. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Funk, and the following children, Charles V. Funk, Bremerton, Washington; Arthur Phillip Funk, John G. Funk, Melvin Funk, Alice Funk and Helen Funk all at home. He is also survived by four brothers and four sisters. The body is at the Johnson funeral home pending completion of funeral arrangement.
Military funeral services for Arthur E. Funk, who died March 26 at his home, 320 South Ash street, will be held at Johnson’s funeral chapel at 3:30 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Charles Albin of the Fundamentalist Baptist Church, assisted by Aaron Hawbaker. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ollie Hultman, Bill Toopes, Roy Kelly. Steve Blake, Tom Brown and Iver Blomgren; honorary pall bearers, Glen Willbanks, Curtis West, Bert Pickens, Jay Steward, Victor Bergmeier and Jon R. Messer.
