Mrs. Mary Hammar, 88, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday at the Rest Haven home, 820 Pershing avenue. She was born August 21, 1854, in Ohio the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Jones. She came to Iowa in the fall of 1865 and had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 10 years. She was married to John Worrell in 1874 who died May 9, 1888. She married her second husband, David Hammar, in 1928, who died in 1934. She is survived by one brother and five sisters; Mrs. Etta Clyman, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Zena Day, Belknap; Mrs. Belle Abee and Mrs. Maggie Riggs, both of Centerville; Mrs. Hattie Proctor and Emmett Jones, both of Unionville. She is also survived by a nephew, John Day of Belknap whom she reared; three grandchildren, Iola Stanley of Portland, Oregon, Ralph Bummell of Ottumwa and Ray Bummell of Seattle, Washington, and by five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Charles E. McDowell. Burial will be in Drakesville cemetery.
