Native Of Ottumwa Vicinity Dies At 82
Miss Virginia C. Baum 82, Life-long resident of the Ottumwa area, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ottumwa hospital. Her home was at 505 Lee avenue. She was the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Baum, pioneer residents of Wapello county and was born on a farm three miles south of Ottumwa, October 3, 1860. She resided on the farm until 18 years ago, when she moved to Ottumwa. Miss Baum was a sister of the late C.C. Baum and is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. C.C. Baum of Ottumwa, and four nieces, Mrs. T.V. Kiefer, Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. Ralph Adamson Flint, Michigan, and Mrs. Jerry Wood and Mrs. H.E. Wilson, both of Ottumwa. She was an early member of the Zion Methodist church, later transferring to the Willard Street Methodist church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. C.R. Reed. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
