John Reck Sr. 65 a retired coal miner of this community died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant after six years of illness. He is survived by the following children; John Reck Jr., Mrs. E.R. Carr and Gustave Reck, all of Ottumwa; Joseph Charles Reck and Thomas Reck, both in the Navy. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and by one brother Joe Reck of Pekin, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the Church of the Open Bible, in charge of the Rev. L.E. Welshons. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The body will remain at the Community funeral parlors until 1:30 Saturday, when it taken to the church. The pallbearers will be Erwin Goodsell Sr. Ewin Goodsell Jr. Louis Morrell, Gus Dubois, Carl Eckroat and Elmer R. Carr.
