Lancy E. Young, 70, retired employee of John Morrell & Co., died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday at his home 113 South Van Buren avenue. He was born in Linn County November 26, 1872, the son of Oran and Amy Young. He resided in Ottumwa 40 years and was a Morrell employee 28 years, retiring November 1, 1942. Mr. Young was married in September 1933 to Miss Ida Boyd, in Ottumwa. He was a member of the North Side Church of the Nazarene and Degree of Honor. He is survived by his wife, Ida; one sister, Major Mabel Bowman of Flint, Michigan, and three brothers, William F. of Ottumwa, Charles of Fort Madison and Fred of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin. The body was taken to the Carroll Reece funeral home pending final arrangements.
Funeral services for Lancy E. Young, 70, retied Morrell employee who died Saturday at his home, 113 South Van Buren, will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Carroll Reece funeral home in charge of the Rev. Martin Leih, pastor of the North Side Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arthur Canny, Bud Mace, Lester Marts, Edward Ross, William Turner and Frank Schmitz.
