Mrs. Anna Shoemaker, 70, mother of County Supervisor Deat Shoemaker and a life-long resident of Wapello county, died at 9:05 a.m. today at her home 512 North Benton street. She had been ill with the flu. She was born in this county January 8, 1873. She was the wife of the late Joseph Shoemaker. Besides Supervisor Shoemaker, she is survived by three sons, John and Henry Shoemaker both of Ottumwa, and Andrew Shoemaker, Van Dyke, Michigan, four daughters, Mrs. Ben Schmidt, and Mrs. Charles Roberts both of Ottumwa. Miss Marie Shoemaker, New York, and Mrs. Richard Clark, St. Louis, a brother Deat Fleer, Detroit, Michigan and a sister Mrs. John Mott, Ottumwa. The body will be removed in the Vaughan funeral chapel pending arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Ann Shoemaker who died at her home at 512 North Benton street, Tuesday morning, will be held Friday at the Vaughan funeral chapel at 8:30 a.m. and at St. Mary’s Catholic at 9 a.m. where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.M. Walsh, V.F. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Members of General Shields council, Knights of Columbus No. 888 will meet at the council’s home of Third street this evening to go to the Vaughan chapel to recite the rosary at 8 o’clock.
