Edgar C. Finney, 91, died Tuesday at 11:45 p.m. at the home of his son, Clarence Finney of Eldon route 1. He was the son of Stephen and Catherine Finney and was born January 18, 1851 in Alabama. He came to Jefferson County when he was four years old. He was married February 12, 1874, to Sarah Jane Cloke, who died November 22, 1939. Two sons, Reed Finney of Ottumwa and Clarence Finney of Eldon survive as well as two daughters. Mrs. Alice Chamberlain of Des Moines and Mrs. MIllie Carr of Eldon. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Five children, William Finney, Guss L. Finney, Walter H. Finney, Joseph Finney and Lena Drake, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Christian church in Eldon, with burial in Eldon cemetery. The body will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until 1 p.m. Friday.
