Walter McCullough Dies At Fort Wood
The death of Private Walter McCullough of Ottumwa occurred in the station hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, in Missouri, at 6:20 p.m. Monday. Details of the death were not received in the message which came to the parents, Mrs. and Mrs. William McCullough of 229 North Wapello street. To their knowledge he had not been ill. The family today awaited arrival of the remains, and further information. Walter, a former employee of the Penney and Sears store here, was clerk at the Milner hotel just prior to entering the service last April 30. He would have been 37 years old September 20. He was attaché to the sixth specialist service unit at Ft. Wood. Survivors are the parents: four brothers, Floyd and Wilbur of Peoria, Illinois, Ernest H. and Dale of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. E.E. Kritzman of Ottumwa and Mrs. A.R. Hand of Minneapolis.
Funeral services for Walter McCullough who died Monday at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. Richard Paul Graebel. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery. The body will arrive here at 8:20 a.m. Thursday.
