Henry M. Schwartz, 72, retired farmer, died at his home, 125 South Cooper avenue, at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, after an illness of five weeks. He was born in North Henderson, Illinois, November 24, 1869, and came to Iowa in 1900 moving to a farm near Hedrick. He remained on this farm until retiring 12 years ago, when he moved to Ottumwa. Surviving are his wife, Lillian; seven children. Louie of Fremont, Edward and Earl of Hedrick, Henry of Waukegan, Illinois. Mrs. George Klicker, Eldon, Mrs. John Proctor and Ida Schwartz at home; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mary Campbell, Manhattan, Kansas, Mrs. Louis Gretzinger, Chicago and Mrs. Ida Slade, North Henderson; two brothers John of North Henderson and William of Monmouth. The body was taken from the Community Funeral services parlor to the home at 2 p.m. today. Short services will be held at the home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, and at the Methodist church in Hedrick at 2 p.m. the Rev. A.D. McClure and the Rev. J.B. Johnson will be in charge. Burial will be in the Brooks cemetery west of Hedrick. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
