Robert C. Yates, 63, Entered Service Of Milwaukee Lines 38 Years Ago

Robert C. Yates 63, died at his home, 308 North Benton street, Sunday at 5:30 p.m. He was a retired Milwaukee railroad engineer. Mr. Yates was born in Frostburg, Maryland, March 16, 1876. He entered the Milwaukee railroad employ in 1901 and continued until 1937, when he retired. He was an honorary member of the board of elders of the First Christian church, a member of Empire lodge No. 269, A.F. & A.M. and of the Brotherhood Of Locomotive Engineers. He was particularly active in B. of L.E. work and was a member of the legislative board. Surviving are his wife, Anna; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Yates of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Mrs. Florence Mahaffey of Madison Wisconsin; a son Stanley Yates of Chicago; four brothers, Joseph of Williamsburg, Edward of St. Maries, Idaho, Owen of Jacksonville, Florida and Stanley of Cedar Rapids; a sister Mrs. Harry Wignall of Cedar Rapids and two grandchildren, Marilyn Mahaffey and Betty Jane Yates. Services will be in the Lester Jay funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Earl Daniels, assisted by the Rev. John Hastie. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn cemetery, in charge of the Masonic Lodge.
