South Dakotan, On Visit Here, Dies
G.W. Ransdell, 68, retired Lake Andes, S.D. railroad agent, died at 6 a.m. today at the home of a close friend, W.T. McElroy, East Pennsylvania road. Accompanied by his wife, Ransdell came here to visit Mr. and Mrs. McElroy, September 14. He was stricken seriously ill a week later and his condition had been critical since that time. Ransdell had been retired fropm the service of the Milwaukee railroad as agent at Lake Andes S.D. He was a hunting enthusiast for many years. Ransdell had entertained a number of Ottumwa hunters that had visited his section of S.D. and had been a frequent visitor here. He was a member of the Masonic lodge No. 169 A.F.& A.M. at Lake Andes and was a Scottish Rite Mason, connected with the Sioux Falls S.D. lodge. Surviving are Mrs. Ransdell and two daughters, Mrs. Loyle Parker of Harlingen, Texas and Mrs. Freeman Des Jardine of Thedford, Nebraska. The body was to be taken by train from Ottumwa today and funeral services will be held at Lake Andes at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be there.
