Mrs. John s. Reno, Agency Pioneer, Dies
Agency--Mrs. Catherine Reno 83, on of the few remaining pioneers of this community, died at 4 a.m. today at her home in Agency following a stroke last Friday night. The daughter of Harve and Sarah McGuire, she was born October 14, 1858, at Newcastle Missouri, and came to Wapello county with her parents at the age of 2 years. Since that time she had resided in the Agency community. She was married March 1, 1877, to John S. Reno. Four of their five children, Roy, Myrtle, Cholie and Clara, preceded her in death. Her husband died December 23, 1921. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frank Avery of Agency; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Reno was a charter member of the Olive and Oak Rebekah lodge in Agency, and a member of the Agency Methodist church. The body is at the Johnson funeral home in Ottumwa. Funeral services will be held at the Agency Methodist church Wednesday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. Merton D. Wyatt. Burial will be in the Agency cemetery.
