Mrs. Mary Jane Matthews, 64, wife of J.H. Matthews, died at her home, 429 North Jefferson street, at 11:55 p.m. Saturday after three days of serious Illness. Surviving are her husband; two daughters,, Mrs. Floyd E. Ritter of Ottumwa and Mrs. Eugene L. Farmer of Coalgood, Kentucky: six sons, Charles Palmer, Ottumwa, Walter C. Palmer of Woodward, Iowa; a brother S.L. Plum of Chambersburg, PA. and 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs. Matthews was born in Chambersburg. She lived for many years in the Russell chapel community, 12 miles west of Ottumwa. Her first husband died about 20 years ago. She and Mr. Matthews were married four years ago, and lived near Chillicothe until November of 1941. Obit was cut off at this point.
